Since that day, I wonder if anyone has hidden an emergency parachute somewhere in a high rise building just in case.

You would likely die parachuting out a window from either the canopy collapsing due to crosswinds, slamming against a building, or getting caught in other debris.

You certainly wouldn't have a soft landing.
