I kind of agree with you. Not unlike the way football protects the punters...when they're turning the double play they're "exposed" and can be injured easily. Doesn't mean that Coghlan did anything dirty or illegal (as evidenced by Kang's statement).

I just think it's bullshite that they protect catchers (who are wearing a decent amount of equipment) but allow baserunners to just frick middle infielders up.

IMO, that slide was absolutely dirty as frick. But I don't totally blame Coghlan or think he is neccessarily a bad guy, that is just ingrained in baseball culture.
