tech bros that can't catch channel 9 CBS--try a more powerful and omni-directional antenna. all the websites like antennaweb.org make it seem like you only need a 20-mile, unamplified antenna. maybe if you're mounting it 50' in the air, this might work, but i went through a few like the mohu curve30 and those paper thin ones with no luck.
i got this one at radio shack. it's a 50-mile radius with 20db amp, and it's mounted probably 8' or so high, hidden away in a built-in.

even though this is a 50 mile antenna, i can't seem to get a great signal with NBC33 only 11 miles away. FOX44 comes in, but doesn't even look like it's HD. i don't think that's the antenna though; i think FOX44 just sucks. But CBS and ABC are beautifully uncompressed HD.
one thing to note is that when the antenna's amp is turned off, i don't catch crap.
tl;dr: highly recommend an amplified antenna with a larger reception radius than you think you need.
