It's well known among armchair sleuths that Paul Dee cut a deal with Mike Slive to get USC out of the picture because the SEC couldn't beat them on the field of play.
Once Aubbie got bottled, Slive promised never again and vowed to get USC out of the way.
Since the SEC could never beat USC...
They had to resort to the NCAA.
Paul Dee was shady as shite and Slive has been known to be the most corrupt heavy-handed conniving commish in sports.
