Yes, the committee is subjective but, like the basketball committee, they actually take their job seriously and take the time to analyze all relevant factors to arrive at a decision.

The polls are simply sportswriters and coaches (read: some staffer) who fills out their ballot in 2 minutes without watching or analyzing many (or any) games. The polls have always been a joke. The committee is much more legitimate.

Secret society and appointments ... USC represented, not LSU ... It's about money/market share, again, no different than the polls.

I agree their mission may be taken seriously, with football along for the ride.
