Why do you think that Chickenpox vaccine is not necessary? Chickenpox can be a serious disease and people who have had Chickenpox are in danger of getting Shingles for the rest of their life. Get the vaccine and you no longer have to worry. Seems like a no brainer.

Just so you know, the jury is still somewhat out on the 2nd half of your statement. Plus according to our Ped, 2 of his patients actually contracted Shingles as a result of the vaccine. It's still an extremely small % but it has occurred.

The Chicken Pox vaccine was originally developed more so for lost work time issues more than a public health concern. Many major corporations chipped in to find vaccine research to help uptime of their workers.

The true sheep in the vaccine debate are the ones who blindly follow one side or the other. The vaccine schedule was created for the general well being of the entire country and not your specific child. Sometimes strict adherence is best sometimes an alternate schedule is best.

This should be s real discussion with your Ped. If your Ped cannot answer general questions about the vaccine like timing, side effects, conditions when vaccine should be delayed, etc then you should get a new Ped.
