Being an original production makes it a little more desirable, but it's in bad shape. Pictures aren't the best but the exterior finish looks bad and judging from the build up/crud on the trigger, I'd bet the internals haven't been well taken care of either.

If it were in much better shape, I'd say it's a good deal, but in this condition, no. Offer him less if you want it badly and if he accepts then have it cleaned up or do it yourself if you're comfortable taking apart a 1911. The exterior finish is the biggest negative to me though.
