I work for a large tech firm, and this is sorta true. But that is only for top grads from top schools in big cities.
We hire mostly from top 25 schools, and our new grads start out around $80k.

ETA: I'd be enthralled with 65k after graduation. Although i'm not sure my school is top 50 even
