so much of the magic was the importance of the run, the timing of the run, and the magnitude of the game, not just the actual play itself.
We were undefeated and ranked no. 1. Ole Miss was undefeated and ranked no. 3. We were down 3-0 early fourth quarter. Obviously the run was one of the most important plays of that game (and season) as we went on to an undefeated national championship.
Magical indeed.

and don't forget rabb and cannon teamed up to stop ole miss from scoring late in the game that would have won the game for them

Correction. We lost the next week at Tenn. we beat OM 14-0 in '58 and won the NC. Heisman was '59 as was the punt return.
