from last year?

TL; DR below. We bring back more total than anybody else in the West. We actually improve our QB play greatly just by having the more talented guy out there who has an understanding of the offense now. Our losses on defense, aren't major at all.

Yes obviously. Didn't we win 8 games last year when teams were supposed to be better?

Bama was loaded on O and D and Auburn was loaded on O with experience and talent. TAMU was pretty even with this year, MSU had a senior loaded team, and Ole Miss was experienced at all the right places and had some good talent. We had Wisconsin as an OOC opponent, UF is pretty even, and Arkansas will be even at best this year than last IMO (lose the better of the 1-2 punch at RB, Allen could pull a Bo Wallace, lost a lot of star power in the front 7 and don't have the pieces to regroup the very next year).

We were dealing with the zero experienced DTs and that is a much worse problem than zero experienced DEs. Hunter and Rasco got their first real game play 2 years ago and did not improve on creating a pass rush with the year of experience. Part of it was because of them, part of it was because of scheme, and part of it was because of coaching. We don't have those problems now. This is the first time we've brought back both XT starters in a long time. We don't have a Tarzan/Jane or a guy that had to repair both shoulders in a year (sorry guys, but it's the truth). We've replaced lethargic Haley with upbeat and insane Orgeron. We've replaced Chavis's 'contain the QB' with Steele's 'get out there and get after em'.

MLB, are you kidding? We replaced what should have been a backup at best, with a likely All SEC and possible All American. Along with a top 5 cover corner in White, the secondary gets its playmakers with Thomas coming back, Swag Adams, Jefferson the future ball hawk (he was a legit WR in high school), and a list of freshman stud athletes.

Experienced OL a year removed from a coaching change. A loaded WR cast that actually has experience now that none had at all last year. A heisman level RB and a ridiculous beast in waiting in Guice. Athletic TE that just needs the ball, plus a TE that could be a 3rd tackle. Harris has the talent, Harris now has the knowledge. This is the best thing I took from Miles in one of the recent press conferences.

quote:

Harris is the leader, he said, because of the nuances of playing the position.

"His deportment, the things he does before he hands the ball off or throws the ball," Miles said when asked why Harris was leading. "Understanding exactly what's going on, putting us in motion, doing the things quarterbacks need to do to facilitate the other 10 players."

THIS, and a little extra padding, is what he was truly missing. Miles isn't just going to say he has things mentally figured out if he doesn't. Give a guy with top talent an understanding of what he is supposed to do, and you'll have yourself a pretty good player. That doesnt mean he'll be mistake free, but he'll be better than average and definitely not as bad as last year (are people hearing themselves when they say this). Harris is going to be good this year folks. LSU is going to be good this year.
