There are two ways to play Draft Champions. Both modes start with you picking your head coach, and then entering 15 rounds of grueling player selections that fit your wants or needs. In round 1 you could get a selection of Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman, or Andrew Luck. You pick your poison. You may never see another corner in the draft, or you may never see another QB. Likewise, if you take a QB early (say Joe Flacco), you may get to round 15 and see that you could have had Randall Cunningham, Peyton Manning, or Dan Marino for your choices. it really is an absolute crap shoot.
As far as the game modes go:
vs CPU: like it says, you draft your team and then you play 3 games against the CPU. First game is at Rookie level. 2nd game is played at Pro level with the 3rd game being played at the all-pro level. Obviously with each win vs the CPU, your next opponent gets tougher. I'm not sure what the rewards are for each level of completion, but I'd venture to say it's worth at least trying.
H2H mode: Again, draft your players but instead of 3 CPU games, you have a 4 game gauntlet of human controlled players. You may have the same players as your opponent, you may have complete opposites. That's the beauty of the game mode. Win all 4 games and you are handsomely rewarded with coins, players, and draft badges (that can be used to redeem several different sets, i.e. 10 badges get you 1 elite offensive and 1 elite defensive player. 100 badges and you can grab several players that were highly touted coming out of draft day like Adrian Peterson, Tim Tebow, Patrick Peterson, etc.)
If at any point during your quest for champion you lose, you are taken back to the main menu to try your luck again. It's a win or go home type deal. If you go home, you re-draft and you try your luck again.
