When did it become ok in our society for church groups to stand at red lights with children and run up to your car and beg you for money for a church trip? When did we forget to teach our children that they could go work and earn the trip that they so desperately want to go on instead of having some stranger pay for it that you begged for it. They acted like I was a dick when I told them to move along and I wasn't giving them anything. Our society is going to shite morals, hard work, and ethics are no longer being taught to children. Where did we go wrong in the past 10 years?

Those rock church coffee shops aren't going to just build themselves.

My church used to sell plate lunches and wash cars and stuff to raise money for our trips. Sure, a lot of donations came in from the congregation but we never shook down the general public.

How is that any different from Kiwanis clubs or youth softball teams?

I don't think any group should be allowed to do that...it is dangerous...

A Church should NEVER have to beg for donations for a trip. That is what the 10% of your income offering income does.

I have some things around the outside of my house that I'd gladly pay people to do. People should work for money.

forgive me for being skeptical. I've never seen something like that. Surely this isn't common?

A church group begging for money? I mean it's just so hard to comprehend. I'd think any and all church groups would recognize the Big Man as the provider and wouldn't misunderstand the gospel so harshly. i have a feeling there's more to the story.

I've never seen church groups do it. It's always little league football teams, fire departments, and Shriners here.

It's normally travel ball teams, public school sports teams, or fireman that do it here

I don't give to any of them

While I agree with you, people have disappeared for making threads like this.

In Dallas the firemen ask for change one week a year, maybe two six months apart. I gladly give them some change. There is a men's shelter that's sponsored by a church that I've also given to a couple of times. I wish the shelter people would do this somewhere besides the frontage road of I-35 because it is dangerous.

I've never seen kids do this.

My company reached a point where they quit allowing the sale of Girl Scout cookies, or anything else for people's kids, within the office. People have to go down to the parking lot and do the ordering, paying and the delivering. Been that way for at least a decade. Seems some people complained about it going on so much.

I try to run over their foot but it can be tough to miss their legs.
Good times. Give it a try.
