That is a very valid reason. A staggering percentage of concussions took place on kickoffs. It made kickoffs less exciting, but it is very good for the overall health of the game and the players.
To anyone opposed to the kickoff rule, why should extra points not be a formality? They can still go for two. This rule slightly incentives going for two, which is cool.
