He has never been Elite....unless you look at how clutch he is in post season.
Eli is the current best post-season qb playing right now.
He is getting paid also because they are steadily raising the salary cap, making room for players to get paid more. If the cap wouldn't have been raised at all the past 5 years, Rivers wouldn't have gotten paid as much as he did.
