Generally speaking, because of proximity USC and ucla have a rivalry in terms of most things.
However, in regards to football, ND is the bigger rival.

To the OP hell yea rivalries are important as a fan at the least. OSU has a clock to countdown to TSUN 365 days a year and the history makes it important to the young and old alike
