Google "freshwater artificial reefs"
Mostly 5 gallon buckets with cement and pvc tree like structures. Some use old plastic pallets. Lots of articles on LA sportsman as well.

An IRL person I talked with a while back mention putting his habitats out when the lake was down. But the cement bucket thing looks like they can be placed at any time. Will be nice to get some eyeballs on the lake bottom though. Can you have too many in one spot? Or are just a couple enough.
I don't know much about fishing but with the place on the lake I plan on learning.
