The rule is actually more convuluted than you can ever imagine 
Alcohol OVER 5% is allowed Meaning you can openly drink bourbon, vodka etc etc, but beer is not actually allowed so that must be put into a cup

5.Lafayette County is “dry” for beer and light wine (less than 5% alcohol by weight). Thus, distribution, possession, and consumption of beer and light wine is illegal in that portion of the University’s campus
