Also I've found Jacques Imo's Cafe which seems to have a plethora of good reviews. I know it's not a fancy place but it looks nice for a fun experience and good fun. Any suggestions on this?

Depends on how important food quality is for you. You don't have to go somewhere "fancy" to get legit high quality food - I hate that misconception.

I have no doubt you'll have fun at Jacques Imo's, so if food quality isn't a concern, go for it. If you're looking for the best food you can eat in NOLA, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you search this board by Subject Only and type in "New Orleans," you'll find a lot of threads pointing to good places Like Afro listed, the touristy things can be really fun so by all means have a good touristy day. We do it from time to time and my SO was born and raised in NOLA.

I like jacques imo's well enough, and combined with a trip next door to maple leaf it's a solid evening. That said it's overpriced and you can do better for the cost.
