I actually did get to see him three times in '83 and '84.

Saw Ozzy at the Baton Rouge Fairgrounds in 1983? at the day of rock and roll? But still forever bummed about missing Randy.

Yeah, amazed at Ozzy's mainstream popularity. Who would have thunk it.

Yep.

My buddy and I told our parents we were going to a movie at Bon Marche. But at about 3:00 his dad told him he couldn't use the car. So I begged my dad for his, to go to the movie of course. He relented and as he was handing me the keys he said "You go anywhere near that Ozzy Osbourne concert I'll have your head in a sack."

So I picked up my buddy and away we went. Missed Leroux and Vandenburg but saw BOC and Ozzy. My poor dad never knew.

Saw him again in Feb. of '84 at UNO Lakefront with Motley Crue opening.

Then just about a month later ANOTHER Ozzy show at the Centroplex was announced... June 4th with Accept opening. And Accept was my absolute favorite band at that time. Tickets went on sale on a Saturday for that one. This was over a year after the infamous AC/DC show, so all tickets were now reserved seating. So I went out to the Centroplex box office with a sleeping bag at 9 am the day before, and my buddy was gonna come down after work to camp out with me. I was the only person out there of course. After about two hours, the box office worker came out and told me that the manager wanted her to take down my name and number of tickets I wanted and I could go home, come back the next morning and we would go straight to the front of the line.

So we did. Got there in plenty of time the next morning and were literally able to walk up and be first in line in front of the other poor souls who had actually camped out. There were a couple of them who were like WTF??

So we had two tickets on the front row in the middle. Then a few weeks later, he got cancelled AGAIN!!! This time the arena caved to the pressure from some Reverend named David Diamond.

We wound up happy actually because we then got tickets to the June 6th concert at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, which was general admission. Of course we got there hours ahead of time, were the first ones through the door, and wound up right up front.

Took a Greyhound to get there and stayed in the Holiday Inn right next to the Coliseum. Man what a great time.
