Your point only makes sense at the extreme.

The inherent and indisputable fact is that the coaches have MORE information than the fan. And not just a little more information. The coaches have multiples more information, AND they have the ability to obtain almost all of the information that they want. Fans are stuck trying to interpret and extrapolate conclusions from limited data sets over which they have no control.

The only time when having more information is a problem is when the analysis is faulty. Miles' record strongly suggests that his analysis is NOT faulty.

Thus, the immense data discrepancy between what the fan is able to collect and what the coaching staff is able to collect far outweighs any difference in the analysis of that data . . . unless you are comparing Hallman to Miles.

The concept is still the same. Of course the coaches have access to what happens in practice, but that doesn't disallow a 3rd party from being able to critique their success. LSU fans that watch every game have an extremely good sample size from which to evaluate how Miles does in developing QBs.

The fan gets about an hour each week. The fan only gets to see what the coaches call. They only get to see the plays executed against whatever defense the opponent calls. It might be a vanilla game. Almost assuredly, less than 30 passes per week.

The coaches get about 20 hours each week. They can call whatever plays they want to see executed. They can call all pass plays. They can run it against whichever defense they want. Or they can run pass drills all practice and see short, intermediate, or long passes in whatever amount they want.

The coaches can ask their QBs whatever questions they want about whatever QB function they wish. They can give them hypos and ask the QB to read the hypo defense. They can quiz them about literally anything. The verbal interplay between coach and QB dwarfs anything the fan can obtain through a limited interview by a third party.
