I mean...do you know that the person in front of me is going to brag to others about it? If it makes them feel better buying some dude's breakfast, is that so bad?

I've never been a part of one of these chain things so I didn't know the protocol.

I should have known the OT would hate simple kind gestures

I don't hate it, but if the previous persons intent was to buy you breakfast then by buying the next person you basically turned them down.

Just accept the free breakfast and pay it forward later.

they do it because they feel obligated to not be the a-hole that ended the chain. who knows, it may be a cnn.com top story if they did end it during a busy line.

since you were the last one in line, enjoy your free breakfast.
