While I'm sure many on this board loathe him, you can't deny he's had a pretty big impact on late night tv.

Can't say I agree with him on everything politically, but I've always appreciated the mirror he shined on the ridiculousness of cable news.

Dude is a legend. His last day will be a sad day for America.

Carrell, Colbert, Helms, Riggle,

The show launched a shitload of careers and although liberal leaning and a tad too preachy in his later years, I always enjoyed his show.

Comedy Central needs to fire Wilmore and find a solid couple of guys to anchor down these two shows. They're about to go from absolutely dominating late night to barely an after thought.

Stewart's rebuttal to the FOX accusation that he's an administration stooge has been fun.

I'm curious...

Is everyone planning on continuing watching the show when Trevor Noah takes over?

I think I'm signing off with Jon.

I still remember that awful show he had on MTV back in the 90s. That should have killed his career. How he survived that only to be given another show is still a mystery to this day. He must have dirt on somebody.

I've watched Daily Show since Kilborn so this is kinda a big bummer for me. It sucks. John Oliver is great but only weekly. The new guy taking over Daily Show might be good, I dunno, but it'll be different. I wish Oliver just took Stewarts place.

Man, I remember vividly that Cramer interview. 08 was scary with the crash and the events leading up to that DS episode were great! Stewart's initial commentary went viral, getting picked up by umpteen other networks culminating to this before the two hammered out a deal for Jim to come on.

My honorable mention that I'll miss is his perpetual back and forth with Bill O'reilly. I always thought it was more comical banter than thought provoking discussions when those two would go at it. The underlying tone to one up each other, I suppose. In the end, I think they really like each other. Or at least their forced, by partisan, relationship.

Wow watching this now.

Seeing all the old correspondence on the show really shows you what made the show great and why it's been in decline lately.

The people he has on now shouldn't be on the same stage as the guys from the past.

ETA:

Holy shite having Colbert on there makes me miss him so much more. Losing the Colbert Report sucks. I am excited about him hosting late show, but his character from Colbert Report might be might favorite TV character of all time. I'm glad Oliver can carry the torch of this show type.

On a lighter note:

I would do crazy dangerous disgusting things for the chance to touch Olivia Munn.
