These incidents aren't usually one-on-one.

Granted this was several years ago... Was getting gas outside Nashville. The guy at the pump next to me was a smallish white guy - but looked tough as cheap cowhide. At
Another pump was this black guy with his windows down, ignition off and his bass thumping. White guy starts staring him down so black guy says "what choo lookin at whitey". The white guy says, calmly, "I'm looking at you n$@@/r. Well. I thought shite was about to hit the fan. Black guy pumps his gas (didn't take long) gets in his car and drives off. White guy looks at me and said "one ain't never gonna do nothing". I didn't correct his grammar...
