It is always the same recommendations when people ask, but it depends on how much essential food you want to mix in with off the beaten path.

Essential food places and the usual most people can tell you. The off the beaten path places you have to drag out of the natives. I have to get TigerWise drunk and trick him in to telling me the local places.

Consider....
Parkway, Cochon Butcher, Domenica, Luke (Happy Hour Oysters), Mr Eds in the quarter, Cane and Table, Oxalis, Shaya, Parasols, EAT, St James Cheese, High Hat, Toups, Delachaise
