Is slanted to be avoided at all costs?
I'm a little concerned because I don't know where I would use it. It seems like spike are needed for slanted and there are definitely places where spikes aren't allowed

I dont have any experience with slanted, but most of the higher end units are straight leg.

You can always use something weighted to hold them down. I rarely use spikes, but thats mostly because the ground in Auburn is hard as nails.
