I also think the outrage about Man of Steel was on their mind. You can tell they went out of their way to save people, to the point it was actually quite distracting. I never understood the criticism, these are films about superheroes there should be destruction and chaos.

You may be right, but there is a difference between the ultra-violence in Man of Steel and the ultra-violence that should have happened in Age of Ultron. MoS completely glosses over the fact that hundreds of thousands (if not a million plus) are being killed by Zod. This complete lack of self awareness cumulates when Zod tries to kill a family of 4 and Superman finally starts giving a shite. And then in the end Superman taunts the government for not being able to track him, right after he's largely responsible for their biggest and greatest city being blown straight to hell. It's simply ridiculous, because most people on the planet would be shaking in fear in their bedrooms after that.

Ultron on the other hand they shouldn't have beaten around the bush about it at all. Ultron should have been all around the world murdering people by the millions, and the Avengers would be almost powerless to stop him. And the Avengers would have to own up to it and be fricking horrified about the monster they created. The ultra-violence is justified in this situation. Watch this trailer (particularly the start) and tell me if you think that they weren't highly implying Ultron would level cities in seconds: LINK

I'll take that number over 6 billion which would have happened if Supes didn't win.

It isn't like he wasn't trying the whole time to stop Zod. He was fighting a group of supreme beings that were his equal.

But... I'll back out of the thread. Seems like every single comic book thread becomes MOS related.
