The drug is not the gateway. The drug dealer is the gateway. Most kids dont start out smoking crack or shooting heroin but they are introduced to the black market through marijuana. If the black market for marijuana is closed that may stop them from being introduced to harder drugs via their illegal dealers.

I understand this argument, but in my experience next to no pot dealers ever sell anything else. Your heady bro down the street isn't sitting on a bunch of rock.
