USA beats France 82-0 at American Football world championships

The United States played France in American football, and the United States won. By a lot. A lot a lot. The final score was 82-0, with the United States scoring a touchdown on 12 of its first 12 drives before running out the clock to end the game.

Imagine that. In a game that requires physical and mental toughness, controlled aggression, advanced strategy, and is designed for contact, America rules.

In a sport where you can't use your hands, there is little to no strategy or contact, people just run around chasing an inflated goat's bladder, and there are countless gifs of "flopping", we're not so good.

'MURICA!

They are having the World Games (A shitty version of the Olympics) in Birmingham in a few years. The host country can pick a sport. I really hope we pick football.

Couldn't be the injuries?
Slower than a snails pace of the game?
Not Conducive to those not 6'3" 200+?
Expensive equipment?
Complex rules?

None of that?

I don't really care for it to go global. It's something that is unique to our nation, and I like that.

Yeah, tell me about it. Prior to reading this last night, I had no idea that there was international competition. Why would they do that?

Among many others, the reason why soccer is a better team sport, and superior overall is because it isn't heavily dependent upon one person. Payton goes down, Denver loses. Ronaldo goes down, you got Bale, Benzema, Rodrigues, Kroos.

I truly believe is any soccer haters devoted a full season to following a big club and watching week in week out, football has no chance. I enjoy the camaraderie, pomp and circumstance, and tailgating. But in terms of pure sport, American football is outclassed in every respect.

The reality is that Soccer will have a hard time catching on in the US, aside from every couple of years when our Natl teams are playing. The reason is simple, we will always have little exposure.

TV contracts rule the big 3. Heck the two minute warning was added for advertising purposes only. In Soccer the only time for commercials is halftime. I understand they have televised advertisements, but so does every other sport.

Therefore, no National TV contracts, no mainstream success.

All this tells me is that French kids don't grow up playing football and idolizing football players. That's not news.
