Arnie was beating Billy Casper I believe at the US Open back in the 60's. Get on the back nine and Arnie has like a 6 shot lead with 8 to go. Billy tells Arnie all I want to do is come in second. In which Arnie replied, I'll do everything I can to make sure you do. Squandered the big lead and went to an 18 hole playoff the next day, Casper won.

7 up with 9 to play. 5 up with 4 to play. Lost in the playoff.

2006 Phil was really bad because of how bad each shot selection was.

Reading more about this one makes me change #1 to Arnie. Up 7 shots with 9 to play and up 5 with 4 to play.

Up 2 shots in the playoff with 9 to play and lost by 4 strokes.

He would never win another major.

For one hole, I still say Van De Velde over Mickelson.

But golf had some major choke jobs, no doubt. I forgot about Seve, Hoch, and Chin. I think Hoch had about 2 foot putt to win and missed.
