You do realize that Iran is the same country whose president and "Supreme leader" publicly denounced 9/11 attacks and had moments of silence at soccer games in the capital right? They had candle light vigils for the victims
Iran is not Saudi Arabia. They have made steps to move past stoning etc.
Also, look at Turkey which is a Muslim country. They are perfectly safe, not radical and secular.
The Levant has been historically one of the most unstable, radical regions of the world since before the Romans. To blame Islam would be like blaming Christianity for the problems in the Balkans
