Wrong.
In Texas those who choose to open carry must get the same permit that is used to conceal carry.
As a founding member of LOCAL I can assure you that the vast majority of our members have Conceal Handgun Permits and often alternate between conceal carry and open carry or both at the same time as they feel necessary. I've had a CHP for more than 20 years and regularly conceal carry as a back up to my open carry handgun.
