A legitimate football league in the spring in mostly Southern and Southwestern cities would do well. 8-10 teams play 10 game schedule. Two divisions and the winners play for the title.

where are the fans gonna come from? it's still minor league football going up against baseball and basketball

is August through February not long enough or something?

A lot of what builds a football fanbase is game significance (where your team fits in on its level and in the larger picture of the sport itself) and history. a new spring league would have 0 of both

well, it's a new league, it will have to grow. It starts locally, everyone excited about the new squad in town. They start winning, adding fans, getting a uniquely talented player(albeit renting him, like college), rivalries, love/hate. It all developes over time. Who would've thought 100 years ago institutions of higher learning would have the rabid fan bases we have today?

You can't deny this: there seems to be an insatiable appetite for football in this country. This would become another layer rapped up in our brains between fantasy football and the draft
