Same here. Dad didn't make much working in a sheet metal shop, mom stayed at home. Working class neighborhood, mix of retired folks, military and blue collar with a few white collar mixed in. Think our rent was $50 or something like that, early 70's. He'd still put enough away to afford a vacation every year. We didn't do without, just didn't have a lot. Patches on Toughskin pants were the norm in those days.
