Why has Stihl never figured out their carburetor issues?

Seems like I have to replace the carburetor annually on my farm boss and pole saw. I don't have this issue on my Echo and Husqvarna equipment. This is a known issue according to my local Stihl dealer and has been for a long time yet it has never been resolved to my knowledge.

Just aggravating to pay that much for something to have such issues which is why I switched my weed trimmers to Echo last year and will switch my pole saw and farm boss when they crap out completely.

Sta-Bil isn't going to do any good on equipment my guys use nearly every day even during the winter. Maybe you meant seafoam but I have tried that and it delays the issue a little bit at best.

Mehhh

I've never had an issue except when I put watery gas in my big chainsaw.

If its used everyday, then no that won't help.

My stuff gets used way more than a homeowner so that may have something to do with it. I had the Kombi system before but bought the Echo PAS system and use it the same as I did the Kombi and have had way fewer issues.

No clue what carb issue you're having, the 3 Stihl products I use, (regularly to intermittently) all work well. I have an Echo and my dad has a Shindawia weed eater, I use both. Shindawia is far better than the echo. Both are "light commercial".

FWIW he/we would still have the old Shindawia if they still made the old carb for it.

RedMax >>> all IMO and I wish I would have gone that route last year but I like the Echo. The PAS system is strong as hell.

Yes I know RedMax is Husqvarna and my Husqvarna hedge trimmer is a beast.

Had an FS-90. Loved it when it ran. But it needed a carb every year. And perpetual carb adjustments. Nothing but Trufuel. Didn't matter.

This year, after two uses, same thing. Sold it and got an echo.

Yep. It's so aggravating. I needed my chainsaw in a bad way the other day and couldn't get it to crank. I just dumped another $110 into it at the beginning of the Summer too. This time will be the last time when it comes out of the shop and craps out again. Today my pole saw started acting fuel starved on one of my guys so I am sure it's about that time.

Yeah. I had to go with the sunk cost mentality to make myself turn lose of mine.

I got an echo because I'm pretty certain the Echo blower I've had for years would run on tiki torch fuel without missing a beat.

I found your problem

They had a hard time transitioning to the newer emissions and noise level stuff. Get a pro grade saw and you'll be problem free. I used to be able to say "just get an even numbered one", but not anymore.

All of the Husky saws I have used don't last long without something breaking....and then you've got to wait a week for parts.

I have owned a bunch of saws, but the Stihl ones are by far the best. All of mine were pro grade ones though

Didn't Echo buy Shindaiwa?

Or am I making that up?

I definitely don't use tools nearly like you do OP, but never had a problem with our Stihl pole saws. I have to clean the carbs once every two years or so, and I keep stabilizer in them when not in use or run them dry depending on how long I know they're gonna be sitting up. We also have a Sithl chainsaw that's who knows how old and it runs like a top.

Yes, and then Shindawia's quality and power decreased

Man my folks had a Shindaiwa blower and that thing was an absolute piece. I hated it. It had good power when it wanted to run, but you'd pull your damn shoulder out of socket trying to crank that thing.

Their stuff used to be mainly commercial, and it was pretty much all heavy. Now that I think of it, everything I have used of theirs was always hard to start

you using non-ethanol gas?

my stihl chain saw has never failed me in four years. I run the gas out of it everytime I use it. it sits for weeks and always cranks easily.

That was with our two weedeaters only... no clue who owns who.

No issues with our stihl pole saw, chain saw, or his blower (less than a year old, so time will tell) but the blower gets used 5-6 days a week at his shop.

I run ethanol free in mine, I'm pretty sure he doesn't.

I use non-ethanol premium gas for my 2-stroke gas and have very few problems.
