So...backfeeding which he mentioned in his post?
We have to back feed for a few banks we work for to do some inspections and I hate it because it's pretty damn dangerous IMO.

If your main is good, then you'll be set. One way to test that is shut it off and check. If you wanna be fancy about it, pull the meter. Still way cheaper ($30 maybe)
