Blah blah blah more German propaganda.
Wife used to drive a 2012 Acura MDX. Great car and very sporty.
Currently drives Infiniti QX60. Another great car and a very smoothe ride.
I value Japanese reliability and affordable maintenance schedules.

My guess is that BMW isn't really rivaled by loaded out Accords or Kias, but that Lexus and Acura might be.
The day of needing to upgrade to Lexus to get great service, design and interiors is arguably over. People buy german cars either for the status, which persists, or for the performance (or the perception of performance). People don't usually buy MDXs or the egg for the same reasons.
FWIW we have a Lexus and love it.
