Then why do you have to have a license, registration, insurance, inspection sticker, and license plate to even be allowed on the road with your car, yet a 10-year-old can up and bike on the same road?

Because cars cause problems. That's why motorists are taxed. Bicycles don't cause problems and contribute to virtually no road damage. Cars carry with them an astronomically higher level of liability, hence your being taxed and tduecen's not.
