r. LSU appears to be getting the Jimmy's and Joe's it wants with the hire of Steele and Orgeron. We will have to wait and see if Steele's X's and O's are as good as his ability to get Jimmy's and Joe's.

Every coach has their own style. When Pelini was here, I swear he never blitzed (someone will find some stats to refute this, but that was my impression). He could do that because LSU had absolute monsters on the D-line; much like Tom Coughlin in NY, he never had to blitz because he had perennial all-pros on the line. The only time i remember us blitzing a lot was against Ohio State in 2007, because it became apparent that none of their receivers would beat anyone in the secondary.

Chavis mixed it up a little more with delayed LB'er blitzes and corner blitzes. The D-Lines were still great, but it seemed more about gap control first, and then bring in pass rushers on obvious passing downs.

I can't speak to Steele's scheme, other than historically its been a 3-4 with an emphasis on masking coverages by moving safeties and LB'ers to different spots; but Orgeron is all about getting the D-Line up the field and to the QB.

Time will tell. I think LSU is set up really well for the future. Other than Coach O bolting for a HC or prestigious D Coordinator gig, I think the staff here right now will be Miles' last, which could be good or bad.
