Although she went to high school there, apparently this wasn't a scheduled visit, but a stop during a cross-country trip.

I've done it without making a specific plan for an overnight stop, had to take what I could get and stayed in sketchy spots, myself. Like I said, this story is sketchy, because being famous and staying at a Motel 6 is one thing, but being famous and getting robbed at a Motel 6 is another thing, entirely.

Could be Occam's Razor and it is exactly what it appears to be. But, I'll wait until more facts develop to make a final conclusion.
