Went a couple times last summer. Fun little town. I'd say just drive another 3 hours north and hit glacier natl park tho or 3 south and go to yellowstone. Only times I went were for concerts though.

The problem with going up there in the fall is, the best part of Glacier is backcountry, and it'd be cold as hell to camp in the fall even if no snow issues. There ain't much to do in Glacier country in the fall.
