Haven't really tested the Hatch, just skipjacks and a few small specks, but for the price is it that much better?

That's a question only you can answer, and honestly, probably not. Galvans are great, but I've seen drag issues (to clarify, two) with them after prolonged heavy use. I've never seen a Hatch reel or its components fail under similar circumstances, but that's not to say it can't happen. To me, Hatch is in line with Nautilus, Tibor, the Allen Omega, etc.

Galvan would be in line with Ross, Lamson, Orvis, the remainder of the Allen line, etc. Obviously this is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions . I don't want you to think I'm shitting on your reel because I'm totally not. Galvans are awesome. I think my first post came off that way. All I really meant was that you shouldn't kick yourself for buying a Hatch over the Torque, because IMO the Hatch is a seriously proven reel. There are entire saltwater guide outfits in the Caribbean that run Hatch reels exclusively, and multiple guide friends I have here run Hatch reels exclusively.
