If you weren't aware, the free2play massive multiplayer fps will be available for download sometime today. LINK
Not much advertising going on for this. Saw it while browsing through r/ps4. Guess the hype died with all the delays.

Most likely available for download once the PSN store udpates. Usually hits around 5-6 PM Eastern time. I'll DL it just because it's free

I played the Beta and had a good bit of fun until I got back into destiny.
I'd recommend a DL and a try. Can't hurt since it is free.

Since you've played it, what would you most closely relate the gameplay to? I've never played any version of Planetside so I am way out of the loop

I'd say... futuristic battlefield set on a control map so big that you have to use vehicles or teleporting to get around. You can literally run in a straight line for 30 min and not hit the edge of the map.
Multiple classes, weapon unlocks, gear upgrades, etc. 3 factions with different play styles. Fairly well balanced. Tanks, troop transports, drop ships, fighter jets, etc.
All done in a persistent online world where the fights get up to insane levels of 100+ on each side in the same fight.

There really is nothing else like it. Just make sure you are in a large outfit. This game is not for lone wolf types unless you strictly want to be a sniper or fighter pilot.

I was looking on the Playstation Store and they were selling subscriptions (month, 3 month, etc.). What do subscriptions provide for the "Free To Play" game?

I played it on PC a while back.
Its a fun game to play for a while. Takes a while to get use to flying but tanks are pretty straight forward and easy to play right off the bat. Flying is probably easier on the controller now.
But like was said before. Its a 50 vs 75 battle for control of points. It almost always comes down to which side has more players.

Planetside is really an awesome game. The 3 factions make it so much more interesting.
Always played it on computer tho, haven't tried ps4 version

Played it on PC for a while. Pretty legit, but obviously some players pay for far better equipment, since that's how the developers make their money

Plus it's all unlockable through in game certs anyways.
I just used the station cash for visual upgrades so when I wreck you you don't feel bad since my guy looks so amazing

Seems like the servers are shaky right now, huh? I just tried getting on for the first time and kept getting "server unavailable" messages.

I really want to give this game a shot but they seem to always have server issues. Perhaps they weren't thinking that a free to play game would garner so much traffic on the servers causing them to overload massively?
