Yellowstones a bit more family friendly. More things to do and see. Jackson hole being right there, grand Tetons, Cody. Hot springs to get in and tons of animals to see. Could raft with no problem.

Yosemite is better overall. Better hiking, better waterfalls, better trees. It's open in the spring, just backroads aren't necessarily open yet. It's more beautiful than Yellowstone but can be insanely crowded in summer. Springs a great time to go.

To each their own but I throughly disagree with your second paragraph. Yellowstone is the better park and if combine it with Tetons (extremely easy to do) then imo unquestionably the better trip.
