This looks like an article about it.

quote:

It happened around 10:00 a.m. Sunday. The chase was initiated in Natchitoches Parish by the sheriff's Office around the 154 mile marker regarding a BOLO, be on the lookout, given by Louisiana State Police about a possible drunk driver.

DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle says the pursuit continued north on I-49 and entered DeSoto Parish. Deputies with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office used a spike strip around the 172 mile marker in an effort to get the driver to pull over. Deputies say after running over the spikes, the vehicle exited the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital.

Drove through around 2:00pm yesterday and noticed a State police SUV and 2 wreckers with what looked like a burned truck off in the grass. Didn't think much of it until I noticed a news van behind the LSP SUV. Then I figured something must have happened to warrant them covering it on the news. Obviously this story makes sense of what I saw.
