Suggesting "white history month" is just plain stupid. Whites have been the predominant race in this country since it was founded and have never been enslaved, or even mistreated for that matter, so why in the hell would they need a month to recognize their accomplishments? When black history month was started it was a good idea. It was truly amazing what some of those men and women went through to accomplish what they did and most people probably never would have heard about it if not for black history month. Now it's not necessary anymore and it just perpetuates race divisions IMO. But white history month? GFYS with that stupid shite

I think I agree with all of that. As time goes on the need for a black history month should get less and less. I think the whole idea was that black people were excluded from recognition in main stream history. Now that black folk have mostly equal opportunity, they should find their way into typical history. The best example of this is Obama. You don't need a black history month to learn about a man who is president of the United States.

I agree with most of your post but this part is ignorance. How about the Irish, Italians, Eastern Europeans and Jews? All "white" (more or less) and all were pretty badly mistreated at various times in our history.
