It's not like there's a big supply of good 2s in the league. I could see him getting at least 9 per on the open market. Especially with the salary cap jump next offseason. It'll essentially be like a 6 per deal relative to the new cap. So, teams could actually bite on him. A pretty good 2 for what is essentially a 6 mil a year contract is a favorable team deal. Also, long contracts are generally more preferable.

I'm not saying he will opt out, but there is a possibility if he wants security. On the team side, a 40MM/4yrs isn't too bad of a contract for a starting level 2. And that kind of deal will guarantee EG an extra 25 MM in career earnings. Not bad for a guy with his injury history. Definitely worth thinking about on his end.
