per the article, the state supreme court is deciding a "she lied" case soon and may allow that as a defense

now in Louisiana, the statute CLEARLY says that this is not a defense, which is just ridiculous...but is based around that logic

I don't know jack about the legal system....and I think this kid got completely hosed in the situation. That being said, let your mind run through the scenarios of allowing a "she lied about her age defense."

You could potentially have older teenage girls escaping poverty at home by entrapping/enticing older wealthier men by lying about their age....then extorting huge sums of money in return for an admission that they lied.

I am probably being a little simplistic or stupid but I can definitely see problems by setting that precedent.
