That baffled me, why didn't Dunn come out after the single in the 5th? Then the next batter walked on 4 pitches, w/ 1 of the pitches being a wild pitch allowing the runners to advance. He definitely should have come to the mound then. I can only assume that they were waiting for Newman to be ready and new he would come in, but why not use it as a delay tactic.
Hindsight is great, but we can only imagine what would have happened had Newman come in before Hale's error allowed the score. If Newman can pitch lights out, it's only 2-0 going into the bottom of the 5th & they leave the bases loaded
