Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe it could be a situation where Bregman was that one guy that this particular pitcher just couldn't get out when he faced him, no matter what? Maybe this same pitcher had better success when he faced off against Swanson, so when he is asked, he thinks Bregman was the best hitter he faced?

That could be the case, Jake. Naturalbeam and MSG offer up some thoughtful possibilities also.

What dismisses that is the All American honors, finalists for the Golden Spike awards, playing on the USA team, and that crazy number 2 overall pick by the Astros.
I get the feeling that Bregman was more than just a pesky little hitter to a SEC pitcher.
