Present.

Was fortunate to see him perform a few months before his death in Austin 2003. Came out on stage wearing a willie Nelson t shirt, and had a Dixie cup full of whiskey i believe. I don't remember it being a particularly good show in terms of singing or playing, seemed very fragile (not to mention drunk/high), but there was still something special about it. Just him and his guitar.

lucky three - great little short film of smith playing three songs.

I loved Elliott Smith, still do, but don't listen to him all that much any more. His music is sad but beautiful. He was a great songwriter, and it's sad that he died so young.

I saw Elliott Smith in New Orleans in the early 2000s -- maybe at Howlin' Wolf? Whatever, it was like a reunion of people who were picked last in gym class. He put on a good show. Seemed like he was in decent spirits. He was hanging out after the show and I always regret not going up to him and talking about how much his music meant to me. He was like Kurt Cobain, just one of those talented people who was wired to always be miserable.
